Mt. Vernon, NY native Jared Bartee has found a new home in Washington state, working for the Seattle Mariners in client sales and service associates. The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences 2017 graduate earned two minors in business administration and communications to go along with his sports management major.
"With CPASS I was able to study in a great sport management program that is one of the top programs in the country. All while at a top D1 sports school, whose connections with the local minor league team helped me secure my first internship working in sports.," Bartee said.
Bartee's college experience was different from most of his peers. While at WVU, he learned how to fight for his life. Bartee was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma his freshman year of college which then lead to a break in his education.
"During that year away from Morgantown I decided to continue to take classes online, so I could keep up with everyone else. I knew that I still wanted to graduate from WVU as it was and still is the best school I could've attended. I had the simple motivation of beating cancer and getting back to the life I had," said Bartee.
His interest in the sports industry started as a young age. With sport inspirations stemming from professionals to his own family members who played collegiately. Bartee says his family has been driven by their love of sports for as long as he can remember.
During his time at WVU, Bartee joined one of the campus fraternities, Sigma Nu.
"The time I spent with my fraternity was some of my best times I spent with my brothers. I still remember our trips up to Pittsburgh for the Yankees-Pirates series with them. Or trekking through a blizzard to see WVU basketball upset number 1 Kansas at the time, and of course the many WVU football tailgates and games," said Bartee.
